Repose is an expression of respect for Earth’s elemental resources. It is an examination of our ever shifting balance with nature.
With recent heavy storms, I partnered with my friend and hugely-talented local artist Micah Crandall-Bear to collect offerings from the easement of our California drought. As a two-dimensional and three-dimensional artist, we come together with totally distinctive approaches to how materials convey “abstract simplicity." Crandall-Bear’s technique for layered painting applied to the normally monochromatic surfaces of my steel and wood work delivers qualities of simple, elegant, industrial coalescence. The materials and creative visions yield a boundless relationship, conversation and thoughtfully fresh expression.
Repose will be on exhibit at Beatnik Studios from March 3 to April 20, 2017. Opening reception will be held Friday, March 3rd from 6-9pm at 723 S Street in Sacramento's historic industrial district. The gallery is open 11:30 to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday and by appointment.
